Bratches: Miami nie wypchnie Baku z kalendarza

Formula 1 might add a new venue to the next year’s calendar in form of the Miami street circuit. Shortly after the announcement, the rumours started circulating, putting the Azerbaijani Grand Prix in doubt. Speaking to ŚwiatWyścigów.pl, the commercial director of F1 Sean Bratches has put an end to the speculations.

“Everyone in Formula 1 is excited about the prospect of having a race in Miami. We have put a lot of work into it and there’s still more ahead of us, so let’s see” – he said. “[Miami replacing Baku] is just a rumour that I have read in the press. We have a great relationship with our friends in Baku and any future races will not affect this round”.

Liberty Media is currently working on making Formula 1 more accessible, which would include creating additional non-race events in the off-season: “That’s our vision and it’s a process and not a destination. We have started working on it and we are making progress. If you go to the Fan Zone you might get an idea on what we have in works. We are a fan-oriented organisation and we are putting fans in the first place, because when they win, everybody wins”.

The Baku race organisers have signed a 10-year deal with the option to cancel it early after the 2020 race. As race promoter Arif Rahimov has stated, there are no plans to activate this clause.
