Van der Garde: Halo może wpisać się w DNA F1

The former Caterham and Sauber driver Giedo van der Garde was a guest in the F1 paddock during last weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix. Before the race, he was asked by ŚwiatWyścigów.pl’s Roksana Ćwik to give his opinion about the controversial Halo system.

The big topic of this week is Halo. You already made your Twitter followers aware that you are not a fan, but could you tell more?

I think first of all it is not good looking. It might be an improvement to the safety of the cars, but I do not like it at all.

When I asked Alex Wurz if Halo would destroy the DNA of F1, he told that we do not know what is the DNA of F1. Would you agree with such statement?

Yes, for sure. If you go back to 2008, the cars were very big, and suddenly next year they were made smaller and taller. Everybody was complaining then and everybody is complaining now about the Halo, but after they put it on the cars next year, maybe in two races everyone will get used to it and Halo will become embedded into the DNA of F1.

Who will be the world champion?

It is hard to say. I think both contenders have already proved that they can win the championship and it should go down to the wire.
